A note to our community:
As an organization that holds the health and well being of all community members as a core value, it is important for us to say that we are committed to being a safe space for those who are unsafe due to race, ethnicity, gender, socioeconomic status, or find themselves marginalized in anyway. We believe that a community is more resilient when all community members have the opportunity to thrive, and we are committed to creating an equitable community. We will always look for ways to facilitate equity. We also believe we must be a brave space for those of us willing to question our beliefs, values, and place in a society where not everyone is valued as we are.
Hesed House of Wharton originally began in a church. From the very beginning, we believed that it requires more than prayer inside the walls of a church to strengthen a community. It takes commitment to be in community. We have the privilege to be located in a beautiful house in a beloved city park in a neighborhood that continues to welcome us and grow in relationship with us, and we are a better organization because of those relationships.
Friends, we know our organization and our community have a lot of work to do. We are committed to that work. Hesed House is your house.
Hesed House aims to improve the environmental and social conditions that contribute to poor health and support a quality of life that promotes the health and well-being of Wharton area residents, with special attention to those who are under-served.
Utilizing a variety of wellness modalities, and providing free and donation based programming, Hesed House seeks to increase self-efficacy of all community members and increase community resilience.
